Ludlow Castle

Ludlow Castle is a ruinous castle. It is set on a high promontory over looking the River Teme and River Corve 100 feet below.

It is a privately owned, Grade one listed building and a Scheduled Monument.  Most of the entrance fees go toward the up keep and conservation.

Ludlow Castle has an inner Bailey and outer Bailey which together cover almost five acres.

The Inner Bailey at Ludlow Castle

Climb up towers, exploring through doorways, look through unglazed windows over the wider landscape.

There are large fireplaces stranded in mid air, gargoyles to peer at up high and intricate carvings in stone which will make you wonder how long the stone masons spent carving them.

Ludlow Castle hosts several events throughout the year in the Outer Bailey including the Ludlow Food and Drink Festival.

There is a long and fascinating history to Ludlow Castle, which would be long and boring to read here.

Ludlow Castle is open to the public without having to book.
