Shrewsbury offers a range of fantastic festivals to locals and visitors alike, including the Shrewsbury Food Festival, the Shropshire Folk Festival and Shropshire Oktoberfest.

The Shrewsbury Food Festival is considered to be one of the best events of its kind in the UK and returns for its seventh year on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June 2019.
The festival features:

  • more than 200 food, drink and craft exhibitors
  • two live music stages
  • a huge kids activity area
  • talks and demonstrations from the country’s best chefs
  • a hands-on cookery school
  • kids cookery

Shrewsbury Folk Festival Logo

The annual Shrewsbury Folk Festival returns to the West Midlands Showground in Shrewsbury over the August Bank Holiday weekend commencing Friday 23rd August 2019 and runs through to Bank Holiday Monday 26th August 2019.

The festival prides itself on the eclectic line-up of performers from across the UK and features:

  • four main music stages
  • a dance tent with ceilidhs, workshops and dance shows
  • a craft fair
  • a food village
  • real ale, prosecco and cocktail bars

At the time of writing the line-up was still being developed, but some highlights already announced include:

The 2018 Oktoberfest claimed to be the biggest party in Shropshire, and the organisers promise that Shropshire Oktoberfest 2019 will be even better.

This festival returns to Quarry park and around Shrewsbury on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th October 2019.

The Shropshire Oktoberfest 2019 will feature:

  • the region’s top brewers
  • the best beers
  • the best music in the best venue
  • a gin den
  • a prosecco parlour
  • a lager bar
  • and a comedy club

Shrewsbury Food Festival 2018

Now in it’s 7th year the Shrewsbury Food Festival welcomed 27,000 people last year.

This year the Festival is being held in the Quarry Park, Shrewsbury, on Saturday 23rd from 10:00 to 18:30, and Sunday 24th June 10:00 to 17:00.

The Shrewsbury Food Festival is many things:

  • a festival of food and drink and crafts with more than 200 exhibitors
  • a musical showcase of local unsigned bands across two live music stages
  • family entertainment
  • a hot food court
  • celebrity chef demonstrations and chef cookery school
  • kids cookery school and kids activity area
  • artisan bars

Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival – Saturday 29th April through Sunday May 7th 2017

The 12th annual Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival offers 57 walks over 9 days exploring the UNESCO Wold Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge. All the walks are free and are led by experienced volunteers. There are walks for all abilities.

Marches Transport Festival – Saturday 13th May and Sunday 14th May 2017

Bishop’s Castle Walking Festival – Saturday 13th May through Wednesday 17th May

The 18th annual Bishop’s Castle Walking Festival benefits from local experienced volunteers who guide you on a range of walks that vary from 3.5 to 14 miles, cover a variety of terrain and are classified as leisurely, moderate, energetic and strenuous.

Aston-On-Clun Arbor Day – Sunday 28th May 2017

The Arbor Day festivities include a variety of events in a carnival atmosphere – concerts, displays, Morris Dancing, stalls, an 18th Century procession – and the Aston-On-Clun Arbor Day has been featured on the BBC.

Church Stretton Walking Festival – Thursday 22nd June through Sunday 25th June 2017

Local volunteers will guide you on a range of walks varying in cost (some are free), duration and location.

Shrewsbury Food Festival – Saturday 24th June and Sunday 25th June 2017

The Shrewsbury Food Festival takes place in Quarry Park and throughout the town. As well as exhibits from 200 of the best local artisan producers the festival features Shropshire Unsigned – local unsigned musical acts. There are also cookery demonstrations, chef school, free kids and entertainment. The weekend is the focus but there is also the massive fringe festival that continues throughout the month at local restaurants and eateries.

Ludlow Fringe Festival – Saturday 17th June through Sunday 2nd July 2017

Ludlow comes alive during the Ludlow Fringe which is an independent Arts, Community and Culture festival initiated in 2013 as annual inclusive, vibrant and diverse Arts Festival. Many of the events are free and there is a maximum £15 for paid events which include a range of performances along with the Art Trail and Galleries.

Ludlow Green Festival – Sunday 9 July 2017

The Ludlow Green Festival is an annual attraction celebrating all things ‘green’. In 2017 it is moving forward from the August Bank Holiday to July.

Shrewsbury Folk Festival – Friday 25th August through Monday 28th August 2017

Shrewsbury Folk Festival is about more than just music – it promises a warm welcome from volunteer stewards and a relaxed atmosphere with time for you to explore the festival site with its four sound stages, dance tent and specialist venues for our children’s and youth festivals. There are shops, caterers, bars, a craft fair, free buses into Shrewsbury town centre plus a great campsite.
