Carding Mill Valley

Carding Mill Valley is a valley set in the side of The Long Mynd.

Carding Mill Valley is owned by the National Trust. Some of the building were used for carding the wool from the sheep on the surrounding Hills.

There is a Visitor Centre is in Chalet Pavilion with a gift shop and tea rooms where they put on events throughout the year.

You can do an easy walk up Carding Mill Valley or you can do longer more challenging ones up over Long Mynd.

Above Carding Mill Valley is Bodbury Ring on the summit of Bodbury Hill. As an Iron Age Hill Fort it is unusual as it has a single rampart. Well worth walking up for a look.

Children enjoy exploring Carding Mill Valley and they can build dams in the stream coming off the Long Mynd or paddle or do pond dipping.

Further up the valley is Carding Mill Valley Reservoir. This has become a popular place for Wild Swimming. There are safety notices and emergency equipment provided on site.

Or enjoy a cup of tea in the Pavillion, watching the world go by.

Carding Mill Valley can be reached by car or train from Folly View.
